The Biggest Events at Events Square, Falmouth

Welcome to Falmouth Festivals

Falmouth Festivals are responsible for the annual programme of activities on Events Square in Falmouth. The area in front of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall has hosted hundreds of events since 2005, from Ellen McArthur’s triumphant return from her recording breaking Round the World Voyage to the annual Falmouth Oyster Festival. Sea Shanty Festivals, Falmouth Week Entertainment Marquee, BBC Antique Roadshow, Shelterbox’s Big Charity Sleepover, Arts & Crafts Beach Hut markets to the Fal Fish Festivals are just some of the diverse events that attract large numbers of the public, both local and visitors.

In addition to the above events, Falmouth Festivals has played host to both the 2008 and more recently the hugely successful 2014 Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta entertainment on Events Square, The Docks and Church St Car Park. This event attracted over 100,000 people to the town throughout which Falmouth truly shone!

Thanks to The Falmouth Session, DU HAG OWR, Sarah McQuaid and all the other bands who performed over the weekend - Folktastic! ... See MoreSee Less

DU HAG OWR getting the crowd singing along at the Falmouth Festivals Southwest Bars and Events Falmouth Folk and Cider Fayre. I'm up next! Love this festival - was lucky enough to catch the last half of The Falmouth Session's set when I arrived - excellent singing and playing, with a nifty run of key changes on "P Stands For Paddy I Suppose". So good to see Drakey and Kit and all the crew again. The next festival I play after this will be the Costa Del Folk on Ibiza in 2 weeks' time. Hopefully I won't need my winter jacket for that one! Thankfully the atmosphere here is considerably warmer than the temperature. :-) See www.sarahmcquaid.com/tour for details of all upcoming shows.

Busy week! Not only am I closing out the Falmouth Festivals Southwest Bars and Events Falmouth Folk and Cider Festival with a 4-to-5-pm set this afternoon and playing a charity concert at (and for the benefit of) St Buryan Village Hall this Friday evening (Sarah McQuaid - Charity Concert at St Buryan Village Hall); the Pipers Choir, a St Buryan-based community choir of which I'm honoured to be a member, will also be doing a Lunchtime concert in Truro Cathedral on Saturday at 1pm. We've got a dress rehearsal for that on Wednesday evening, after which I'll be hightailing it to the Admiral Benbow to catch the second half of Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar's concert at Penzance Folk Club, which I'm very much looking forward to -- make sure to get along to that if you possibly can! And I've just bid a fond farewell to my lovely Nashville-based friend Kari Estrin of Kari Estrin Management (also radio promoter par excellence -- she came up with the idea of re-releasing my first two albums as a double CD, then took it to No. 1 in the Folk DJ chart back in 2011 -- and music industry veteran whose long list of credits includes being assistant director of the Newport Folk Festival and tour manager for Janis Ian, Suzanne Vega and Steeleye Span amongst others) who's been visiting for the past four days -- so good to see her again and show her some of my favourite local sights and sites. Things don't get any less busy next week, as I'll be performing at the Costa Del Folk festival Costa Del Folk, Ibiza on April 29 and 30! Thanks so much to The Cornishman, What's On Cornwall and Cornwall Live for this lovely article about this week's gigs and my forthcoming new album. See www.sarahmcquaid.com/tour for details of all shows.
